I regret to inform our readers that we’re moving. The New Agorist’s material will now be published, along with tons of other fantastic material, at the Turncoat Resource. I urge anyone reading to check them out. The Turncoat Resource is a place where Agorists of all stripes can publish their art, poetry, essays, and other material for the enjoyment of all. Over the past months, they have quickly picked up hundreds of readers and are on the fast-track to becoming one of the hottest pages for libertarians looking to find a fresh, interesting, and youthful take on Agorism. I will be posting pieces of writing (of which I already have a couple) and art, and our partner in justice Danilo Cuellar will be there as well. We hope that you are excited as we are.
Agorism is the ideology for the new century. The old way of life is quickly fading. Disillusionment is setting in among everyone, particularly the young. It’s for this reason this blog was created. The marble halls of Academia are decaying, replaced with the distributed, egalitarian, human world of the Internet. The institution of police is being replaced with community solidarity and private groups who actually have to please customers in order to make money. The endless wars of aggression are being attacked more and more from all sides, exposed for the power-grabs they truly are. The central banks and their commercial pets are being supplanted by free banking, especially with the miracle tool known as Bitcoin. This is Agorism brewing.
Agorism is truly beautiful because it isn’t confined to traditional politics. First, it’s Anarchism, which means it immediately recognizes all political parties as symbiotic ruses and nothing more. So, right off the bat, we are rid of all political institutions which tie us to the archaic and evil darkness that once held sway over our minds. Secondly, it circumvents unpopular distinctions between Anarcho-Capitalism and Anarcho-Sydnicalism. Both “red” and “gold” Anarchists can practice Agorism and subscribe to it. It’s new. It’s not defined by an old, dusty dictionary. It’s a process. Your purposes are your own, your motivations are your own, and it’s up to the market as a whole to judge whether you are creating value or not. If that means you’re an Anarcho-Socialist building the networking foundation for a co-op, that’s Agorism. If you’re an Anarcho-Capitalist trying to make a buck off the newest fad, that’s also Agorism. No matter what, you’re creating a better world. Whenever you participate in the gray or black market (and you usually aren’t even aware you are!), you are contributing to the good of future humans. You are helping to make sure they don’t have the judges and executioners staring down their backs, waiting for the slightest mistakes to swoop in like the vultures they are and take whatever livelihood the average person has. Their time is over. Cronyism and Communism are crumbling. It’s the age of the Individual.
So, come join in this adventure. Realize like I did that spontaneous order will happen where there is no oppression. Markets emerge where there is demand. Now, there is a market for freedom. Human choice–real, unadulterated, pure human volition–is hammering at the doors of Influence. Soon, every man, woman, and child will realize their true potential, and the decrepit statues of Politics will be forced to abdicate. Their idols serve no purpose here. We are our own heroes, gods, and masters. We will write our own futures. It doesn’t have to be about the Silk Road. It doesn’t have to be about Bitcoin. It doesn’t have to be about anything other than what you want it to be about. Agorism is life itself. Agorism is you.

People are angry about this. But the real question is, will they do anything about it?

Sometimes we libertarians get tired. It seems like the odds are stacked against us. The State is bigger and more invasive than ever. We’re stuck in a death-spiral of wars, debt, police abuse, and everything in-between. The vast majority of Americans and people around the world are still stuck in the paradigm of party politics, fighting over how best to force others to abide by their will. It’s an uphill battle.
But there’s still hope. Checking the Google Trends for “Voluntaryism,” “Anarcho-Capitalism,” or “Agorism” shows a huge spike only a few years ago. The odds are that you probably hadn’t even heard of any of these terms before 2008. Bitcoin is entering the mainstream market, slowly but surely, and more and more people are becoming aware of it. The black market (a terrifying word in the past) could make up around one third of the world economy. It is an uphill battle, but we are winning. More and more people are being exposed to the message of liberty. More and more people are learning that the old order of the world–the order of war, poverty, and oppression–is dying. Today is the day we gain our freedom.
People all over the world are waking up. They are tired of their corrupt leaders. They are tired of dictators who claim to represent them. They are tired of being taxed into oblivion, being arrested for the slightest offense, and being watch everywhere they go. Let the anger and disgust with evil drive your fight for good. No matter what they try, the State is unsustainable, and it will lose in the end. It will be a long process, don’t be deceived. Most people have trouble letting go of old ways, especially when they’ve been brainwashed their entire lives, but together, we can break the chains that hold people in their mental prisons. We can realize a free and peaceful future. The world depends on us. Let’s rise to the challenge.
